“A Motown Christmas” at THE ENSEMBLE THEATRE

The MSMMS medical society was founded in 1991 to provide health education and advocacy to communities in need, as well as, to support the training and development of black female physicians. The inspiration for our organization is our namesake, Dr. Mary Susan Moore, the first African American woman to practice medicine in the state of Texas. Her passion for medicine, courage and perseverance continues to guide the mission of our organization today.
Over the years, we have awarded scholarships to students and residents at Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston and The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Those recipients have gone on to pursue careers in various areas of medicine including Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics. This year our goal is to raise $15,000 in scholarship funds.
